Forest Sweat

Most people know the basics of the right of public access. Our right to roam in nature - but also our duty to be careful and considerate when doing so. Found a funny picture online to illustrate that even a child can understand the concept. Common rights are not as many people believe an ancient right. Without a modern invention that is not obvious, but requires us to spend time in nature to respect animals and nature, but also landowners and others who spend time in nature.

Extract from the Environmental Protection Agency information on the right of public access

Basically, you do the following

• Walk, bike and ride and be almost everywhere in nature. But not too close to dwellings (houses). If you open a gate, you close it behind you.
• Walk, bike and ride on private roads.
• camp overnight. Do you want to camp longer you must ask the person who owns the land.
• Go swimming, take a boat and go ashore, but not near dwellings (houses).
• Picking flowers, berries and mushrooms.
• Fish with a rod and spinning rod along the coast and in the five largest lakes (Mälaren, Vänern, Vättern, Hjälmaren and the Great Lake in Jämtland).
• You may light a small fire if you are careful. Burn not directly on a rock, it breaks. It is better to light a fire where there is a special place for firing. In summer, they are often forbidden to make fire. Ask your municipality what to do.

This, remember to show respect for, nature

• You must not pass over land, gardens, plantations or cultivated land, such as agricultural fields.
• Do not drive a car, motorcycle or moped in the wild. You may not run on trails, park roads or in the exercise track.
• Do not burn if it is very dry weather or windy conditions. Then the fire spread.
• Do not remove or damage trees and shrubs.
• Do not take fruit, vegetables or anything else that grows in gardens, flower beds or on the fields.
• Do not leave or throw any rubbish. Cans, glass, plastic and other debris can harm animals and humans.
• Do not hunt, disturb or injure animals. It is also forbidden to take birds 'eggs or touching the animals' nests or chicks.
• Do not fish without a permit in lakes or rivers. You do not need permits to fish with a fishing rod, casting rod and on the coast.
• Dogs may not be loose in the wild during the period March 1 to August 20. Then the animals are young. A loose dog can frighten and
injury to the animals. It is best to always keep dogs on a lead in the wild.

I found a guy who has taken it a step further and concretized, a what may be called orthodox view of our responsibility not to leave traces of ourselves in nature, Bjorn Corander . I agree in principle with everything he writes, even though there may be a point in having a little colored clothing (hunting season), not least, it is a good tip to keep the already trodden ground.

Another good habit is to greet people you meet, simply because it's nice. If you are out on the longer stages when you walk, it is not unusual to also change a few words about how it looks along the way.
